The Rotary Club of Minneapolis Distributes Unite for Good Funds‍ ‍

In response to the fear, uncertainty, and disruption in our community in the last few months, the Rotary Club of Minneapolis formed a “Unite for Good” subcommittee charged with distributing $50,000 from our foundation and any other donations to the community to support organizations addressing urgent needs in four key areas:  food security, housing stability, economic recovery, and legal aid. ‍ ‍

The committee established a budget, developed a plan, and recommended allocations for the club’s $50,000 Unite for Good fund, along with an additional $3,945 contributed by Rotarians and friends who joined our effort. ‍ ‍

The following organizations will receive support from the Unite for Good project:‍ ‍

  • Economic recovery: $15,000

    • Cairo Fursad https://cairofursad.fund/ a collaboration of the Cairo and Fursad non-profits to provide housing stability and business recovery support, focused on the Somali community.

    • Lake Street Council https://www.visitlakestreet.com/ a business association in one of the most effected neighborhoods in Minneapolis, providing support to those businesses most effected.

  • Legal aid: $8,945

    • Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid ― Immigrant Law Project www.mylegalaid.org a program providing legal counsel for our immigrant neighbors.‍ ‍

Together, these investments reflect Rotary’s commitment to service, compassion, and action when our community needs it most.‍
